Emperor Melek Taus lost everything at an early age after the first alien invasion in the 28th century. He was caught in the crossfire of an aurora beam and was mortally wounded. He was able to survive only after having been rescued by a benign alien race, the Virtues, that experimented on him with cyborg technology.
